Cimex Software and Windows 7

CimPACK / CimCAD & Windows 7 Compatibility

 As many of you have heard, Microsoft released their new operating system late last year. Windows 7 is now the lateset and greatest operating system from Microsoft

The previously released version of our software was 13.0, which we began shipping in late June 2009, over five months before Windows 7 was even out. As such, 13.0 was not tested on 7, and is not a Windows 7 compatible product.

Our current version of CimPACK / CimCAD is version 13.1. We had to make a file format change to achieve some of the added functionality we needed. This version is our first Windows 7 compatible version. We have W7 here at Cimex and have tested version 13.1 on it and have made changes as needed.

It may be that your current version of CimPACK / CimCAD will work on Windows 7, certainly everything won’t work though and if you run into an issue unfortunately there won’t be much we can do about it. As such we would recommend that you abstain from Windows 7 for your CAD needs or upgrade to version 13.1. For forwards compatibility 13.1 will only run on a new USB activator that we are in the process of switching to, not on parallel keys.
